Abstract: | The goal of this thesis is to first, establish that the logical parallels between the underlying structure of computer science and Jewish text do exist. Once this foundation has been established, this paper will explore educational theory behind a constructivist model of computer science education based on the research of Seymour Papert. This model will then be applied to enhance learning in the Judaic studies classroom given the already-established parallels between computer science and Jewish text. After establishing the parallels, and defining educational criteria, this thesis will explore current models of computer integration in a Judaic studies classroom, and determine whether or not they are up to par with the criteria established by Papert. Finally, this thesis will present an original model for integration I developed in my research with the Sefaria Project. |
