Item Open Access The View from YU ; January 2024(Office of Marketing and Communications, Yeshiva University, 2024-01) Office of Marketing and CommunicationsOFFICE OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS Dear YU Community, Welcome to the January edition of the View from YU and the start of the spring semester. In this issue, you will read about the remarkable efforts President Berman continues to make in the fight against antisemitism on college campuses and in advocating for moral leadership in higher education. Last month, President Berman met with U.S. Representative Virginia Foxx, Chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, and delivered a compelling presentation at the U.S. News & World Report’s Breakfast Forum on Leadership in Education. There, he engaged with prominent figures such as the chancellors of the State University of New York and California State University, as well as the U.S. Undersecretary of Education. At the outset of January, YU orchestrated critical solidarity missions to Israel: • The Jewish Studies Scholars Solidarity Trip led by YU included educators from across American universities. • The Sacks-Herenstein Center delivered essential equipment to the 727th Battalion, an all-female combat unit stationed in Gaza, one of its many activities in the country. • Our men's basketball team conducted basketball clinics for children, volunteered with Leket Israel and participated in a rousing exhibition game against the Hapoel Tel Aviv team. In the pages that follow, we feature YU’s pioneering program in Israel to give students the opportunity to earn a YU degree in partnership with Tel Aviv University and Bar-Ilan University, starting in the fall of 2024. Plus, you will find stories highlighting the many achievements of our dedicated students and esteemed faculty members from award-winning research in artificial intelligence to being part of the inaugural graduating class of the Katz School’s Physician Assistant Studies master’s degree program. We look forward to seeing you again for a new semester of inspiration, connection and learning here at YU.
