Whether in practice as an employee of a social agency or the social worker in private practice, the worker engages in professional activity. How that professional activity takes place may depend on the way the social worker perceives the constraints and potentialities of the work situation. Specifically, the inquiry takes the three worker groups, (1) private practice worker, (2) agency worker, and (3) part time agency worker and private practitioner, and reports on: descriptive characteristics, socioeconomic perspectives, educational information, personality type, professional orientation, professional activity, preference for social work and professional mastery.;This study looked at three kinds of worker groups in the social work structure and used an explanatory survey to compare the personality type of the private practice social worker, the agency worker, and the part-time private and agency practitioner. It also looked at the professional orientation, professional activity, preference for social work and mastery expressed by these groups. As a result, it was found that there were no significant differences between the three groups. Instruments used were the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and measures designed to assess how respondents view themselves as professional social workers.
