dc.description.abstract | This course will explore issues of identity in relation to perception and the role of the artist in reinventing and interpreting these perceptions. How does the artist impact the story being told and how this is communicated to the viewer?
We will be asking the questions:
Who are we? How are we defined?
Which features set us apart from others? Which features bind us together? When are we limited by the identities we have inherited? How do people identify themselves in the world?
In studio projects, writings, and class discussions students will demonstrate their thoughtful consideration of the topic of identity and role-playing and re-invention in relation to artmaking.
What is a portrait?
We will use a variety of media including but not limited to:
Drawing, Photography, Collage, Assemblage, Mixed media, Painting. | en_US |
