Course Description and Objectives: This is a survey class in developmental psychology that provides an overview of human development from conception onward. The course explores the major periods of development from three perspectives: biosocial, cognitive, and psychosocial. By the end of the semester students will be able to identify major periods in development and articulate biological, cognitive, and social-emotional changes that occur during development. Students will also be able to describe how each one of these areas of development influences development in another domain. In addition to understanding these issues, students will learn about ethical and methodological considerations pertaining to psychological research.
Lectures will be presented in person except for the dates designated as Remote Instruction on the academic calendar. Please be aware that the University may record lectures.
