Abstract
Course Overview
This course will explore in depth questions related to lack of capacity and how Halacha deals with individuals who suffer from diseases that cause lack of capacity. Dementia and the diseases that cause it have become more prevalent across the world and especially in the Jewish community. Many families struggle with the correct response to learning a close relative or friend suffers from these diseases. The goal of this course will be to look closely at issues such as care of elderly parents with dementia, making decisions for those lacking capacity, and what Halacha views as the status of someone with Dementia. This course will be text heavy and include numerous class discussions about how we approach this issue in Halacha
