dc.description.abstract | COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this course various clinical presentations of language disorders across the lifespan and their
treatment. Disorders include but are not limited to receptive and expressive language delays,
developmental language disorders, and aphasia. The course will also include a unit on feeding
and swallowing disorders. Various intervention approaches for these disorders will be
discussed.¶
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Identify and describe a variety of assessment tools that speech-language pathologists
use to diagnose language disorders across the lifespan
2. List various conditions that place patients at risk for language disorders across the
lifespan
3. Describe the connection between language disorders and literacy disorders
4. List and describe intervention approaches for language disorders
