Abstract
Course Description: Student Teaching Experience
Students will immerse themselves in a full-time student teaching experience. Students will receive direction and strategies to apply and put into practice all the knowledge and skills developed throughout their professional coursework and begin to develop their ability to make professional judgments and decisions. Students will receive professional feedback from university and clinical supervisors and cooperating teachers at their placements as they engage in four observation cycles over the course of the semester. ¶Essential Understandings
¶Basic Understandings of successful professional educators –
1. The effective educator has positive expectations for success for all students.
2. The effective educator establishes good classroom management techniques.
3. The effective educator designs lessons for student mastery and differentiates instruction..
4. The effective educator constantly learns and grows
5. The effective educator develops empathy, warmth and respect for children. ¶
Essential Questions¶
1. What are the attitudes, dispositions, and beliefs of effective teachers?
2. How do effective teachers manage their classrooms using space, routines, rewards, and time management?
3. How do effective teachers create an environment that promotes learning and positive social interaction for all students?
4. What are some effective skills for daily and long range lesson planning?
5. What are some of the key components of effective lessons?
6. How does the classroom accommodate children with special needs.
