dc.description.abstract | From what does the artist draw for inspiration? How are memory, imagination, emotion, and abstract thought translated into concrete imagery? This course will explore contemporary approaches to creative practice, while guiding students to experiment with new combinations of materials and techniques. Studio research and development will be emphasized through readings, screenings of artist films/documentaries and visiting artist lectures, which will guide our weekly discussions. Projects will be organized around themes and process, rather than material or technique. There is no list of specific materials for this course, with the exception of the requirement of a small sketchbook (see "the artist journal" document for guidance). | en_US |
