Abstract

This thesis aims to explore the advances in the diagnosis and treatment of Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome (MALS). It will also ascertain whether most patients diagnosed with MALS are female adolescents, and, if so, attempt to explain this phenomenon. The research and information were obtained through a large literature analysis as well as through personal interviews with experts on MALS. They spoke about their experience in diagnosing MALS, their surgical protocol, and how they have changed that over time. Additionally, a case study on a “typical” MALS case was reviewed as a means of understanding how MALS presents clinically.
