Abstract
Today, faith and religious values have become centerpieces of political and social agendas and the focus of widespread debate. In the Western world, where economic success has not in itself resulted in a more meaningful life, and in the Islamic Middle East, where opportunities for personal and economic advancement remain mirages for the masses, turning to religion has increased dramatically among people of all ages, particularly among the young. Reflecting on its presence in the real world is a vital undertaking. [From Series editor's preface]
