Abstract
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Instruction in the practice of Watercolor Painting Methods and Materials. We will cover basic techniques including: Wash, graded wash, wet into dry, wet into wet, masking, glazing and others. We will study the work of traditional and not traditional watercolorists and create a visual diary of their selected techniques in our individual journals. We will execute our paintings within a range of traditional and non-traditional compositions including still life, portrait, landscape and non-objective formats. We will develop our skills buy doing as many paintings as we can within the semester.¶ Learning Outcomes¶ By the end of this semester students will:
- Demonstrate a working understanding of materials and basic techniques. - Develop Watercolor Paintings that demonstrate an understanding of spatial composition, color theory and painting techniques. - Demonstrate an appreciation for art works created in a range of techniques and genres.
