Abstract
In the twenty-first century, nutrition has evolved tremendously. This has impacted the implications of dental diseases in this era, as tooth decay and erosion are more prevalent. Researched studies have analyzed the effects of nutrition on dental erosion. The effects of nutrition include foods which increase bacteria causing caries as well as acids that break down tooth enamel. This thesis will present a detailed summary of the nutritional effects on dental decay and erosion. Additionally, a personal interview was conducted with a practicing dentist to understand the ramifications of nutritional effects on oral health. Both the researched literature and the interview demonstrate that oral health and nutrition are directly correlated.
