The true international implications of early twenty-first century controversial politically satirical comedic films

Abstract

While this project’s primary goal is to further investigate this phenomenon, its secondary goal is to call attention to an area of intersectional study with so much left to explore. With technological innovation at an all-time high, many are not truly aware of the power that our media holds, and the way in which its influence can permeate into other disciplines. Whether it be through the film, or through other forms of media– billboards, publications, radio, books, and even social media– the information that we consume creates the narrative through which we as a society conduct the identities through which we view the world. How has this narrative shifted over the past few decades, as we venture into this new digital era? What specific aspects of media contribute most to this phenomenon? And how can this knowledge help prime the public to see the overall, objective story? While these questions do not specifically pertain to this project, they are meant to illustrate the vastness of this interdisciplinary area of study. They are here to challenge the readers to use this project as a springboard, to continue pushing the bounds of this area of study, and to make discoveries. As is hopefully clear through the findings of this thesis, there is so much more to learn about the intersection of politics and media. 64 (from Conclusion)
