dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this course is to explore classic and contemporary works of literature grounded in the experiences of teachers and teaching. The narrative texts are used to distill and enrich core concepts and theories of pedagogy, school organizations, educational philosophy, and national policy concerns. Students are expected to adhere to a dense schedule of reading, writing and discussion. In addition, students will have the opportunity to research a topic of interest in the field of education, and to draft their own “school story.” ___ Narrative experiences of teaching, learning, and schooling fund educational knowledge, insight, and inquiry. Teaching all children requires both micro and macro perspectives. Teacher reflection into schooling biographies can illuminate & redress biases and assumptions. ___ How does teaching relate to identity? How does schooling differ from teaching & learning? In what ways does culture impact teaching, learning, & schooling? | en_US |
