Abstract: This course offers a chemical view the role of metals in biological systems. Course content includes introductory coordination chemistry, an overview of spectroscopic methods used to study metal ions & complexes in biological system, the role of metals in biological functions such as oxygen transport, nitrogen fixation, electron transfer and photosynthesis.
