Abstract: Course description: This course serves the purpose of introduction to the money and banking field. The first step in understanding money and banking will involve an introduction of main players in the world of finance and a study of basic framework for understanding how the financial system works. Next we will focus on financial market and the role they play in the financial system. We will discuss the recent financial crisis and how free approach to the business of banking had contributed to the current recession. Lastly, we will look at the goals and institutional structure of central banking and explore the money supply process.
