Citation: Steiner, Richard. “A Selective Glossary of Northwest Semitic Texts in Egyptian Script” (with A. Mosak Moshavi). In Dictionary of the North-West Semitic Inscriptions, edited by J. Hoftijzer and K. Jongeling, 1249-66. Leiden: Brill, 1995.
Abstract: Almost all of the material in this glossary is drawn from Aramaic text in demotic script (papyrus Amherst 63 + papyrus Michigan/Amherst 43b), with only a sprinkling of entries from three New Kingdom documents in hieratic script: the London Medical Papyrus (British Museum 10059), papyrus Anastasi I (British Museum 102417: and ostracon Cairo 25759. Other Egyptian documents have been omitted altogether, either because the transliterated Northwest Semitic material which they contain consists solely of individual words or names rather than texts or because none of it meets the selection criteria set forth below.
