Abstract: | Psychobiology (AKA Biological Psychology) is the study of the interrelationship between biological processes and behavior. Topics we will study include the structure and function of the nervous system, the sensory systems, movement, sleep and wakefulness, motivation, emotions, and cognition including learning and memory, language, and executive control. The learning objectives as we study each of these topics are to: 1. Know the content of each area by being able to define and give examples of the critical terms 2. Know the neural components and processes that are relevant to a given behavior 3. Explain how the structures and processes relevant to a particular behavior function together to produce and regulate that behavior 4. Critically analyze the applications and limitations of Biological processes to explain the complexities of human behavior. |
