Abstract: Course Description This course will cover main topic areas within the field of abnormal psychology. We will explore the etiology, symptomatology, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological disorders according to DSM5. The history of abnormal psychology, clinical research, ethical/legal issues and multicultural issues will also be discussed. Course Objectives • Understand different aspects of major psychological disorders, including symptoms, causal factors, assessment and treatment approaches • Demonstrate ability to think critically about and apply principles and concepts discussed in class. • Demonstrate ability to analyze scientific research.
