Abstract: We will be studying Dr. Nehama Leibowitz’s Torah insights and interpretations through the prism of her “Iyyunim Hadashim beSefer Shemot”—“New Insights into The Book of Exodus.” We will analyze her exegetical and pedagogic methodology through reading her own essays, letters, and critical essays evaluating her lifelong didactic enterprise. Additionally, we will explore her biography and assess the enormous impact that “Nehama” as her talmidim lovingly called her, had on modern Tanakh and Parshanut study.
