Abstract: How do we keep faith in the face of challenges? In this course you will learn how Sefer Iyyov (the Book of Job) provided, and continues to provide, spiritual guidance to the Jewish people throughout history. We will explore how the ancient biblical drama-narrative was interpreted by peshat commentators such as Rashi and Rashbam, philosophers Saadia and Maimonides (Rambam), and kabbalist Nahmanides (Ramban). And how it inspired modern thinkers like Martin Buber, Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, and Elie Wiesel.
