| Abstract: | Course objective: To analyze and understand how the abstract principles of Halacha can be applied to modern-day issues yielding concrete rulings on current questions with regard to Shabbat. The principles of Halacha will be analyzed by a study of sections of the Talmud and its commentaries, and the concrete rulings will be derived from a study of selected readings of modern-day Halachic authorities. Course units: Washing on Shabbat Bathing and showering Use of soap Brushing teeth Cosmetics on Shabbat Makeup Deodorant Opening containers on Shabbat Eruvin in urban areas The principles studied will center upon the following : הלכות ממחק, צובע, מוליד, גזירת מרחצאות, סוחט, בונה-סותר, גוזז, מכה בפטיש, רשויות |
