Abstract: | Course objective: The student will learn to critically examine the thought of Rabbi Schneur Zalman and his key terms. Students will develop the ability to interpret Chassidic texts and to understand the historic context in which these ideas were first taught. The class will cover the first eight chapters of Tanya. The student will learn about the pre-natal oath, the Sefirot, the four spiritual universes, the role of music, and the meaning of the Shevirat Hakeilim. |
