Abstract: Course Description This course is an introduction to the major theories of personality, personality assessment, and the way personality theory is studied through research and applied in practice. Other topics may be added or adjusted as the semester progresses at the instructor’s discretion, although I will try to make all adjustments to the syllabus a collaborative process. Course will include lectures and group-based discussion. Students are responsible for material from lectures and readings. There will be a midterm and final (non-cumulative) and one term paper. ___Learning Objectives___ • Describe the major psychological approaches to personality development • Understand modern application of theory through the integration of research and practice • Learn about the types of personality assessment and how to utilize each • Explore personality theory and pathology through clinical applications and case examples
