Abstract: From the Federal-style row house to the contemporary skyscraper, New York's architectural heritage is compelling. This is an introduction to the philosophy and forces that have shaped our city. Using the city virtually as our classroom, experience architecture and our urban environment - look, discuss, question. Emphasis is placed on the identification and understanding of architectural styles in the context of social, economic, and technological currents.
