Abstract: This course offers extensive study of graphic design principles with a concentration on research, process, and experimentation. Focusing on visual communication, students will familiarize themselves with the graphic design process through a range of projects for both print-based media and the screen. Emphasis will be placed on applying the appropriate software and tools to more complex and comprehensive design challenges. In this class we will work on several multi-part graphic design projects that involve some research and creative thinking on the part of the student. We will follow a creative process of input, research, creative thinking and thumbnails, gathering or creating artwork, preparing layouts, and designing solutions using a combination of physical and digital means.
