Abstract: This course offers an introduction to developmentally appropriate math/science concepts and skills for young children, Pre-K to 2nd grade. Through readings, discussions, experiential math materials scientific inquiry and technology students will explore the teaching and learning of math/science education for young children. Math and science learning standards will be explored. ___ The best resource in the classroom is a well-prepared teacher who understands children and has a variety of instructional strategies and materials in her repertoire and knows how and when to use each of them ___ 1. What are the essential components of an effective math and science early childhood classroom? 2. How do effective early childhood teachers create experiences in math and science that are developmentally appropriate that support math and science standards in the early years?
