Abstract: Objective My goal is to enable students to read and comprehend texts of Talmud and Rishonim. In order to accomplish this I require the students to prepare the assigned material in advance of class. During the formal class I call on the students to read, translate, and explain. During each class the students are expected to read, translate, and analyze the material. I will ask probing questions to help the students fully comprehend and analyze the material. I do not simply lecture to a quiet audience. Rather I encourage vibrant and interactive class discussions of the actual texts. I impress upon my students the need to be meticulous with the texts and to account for every word. Simply put, my objective is to teach the students to learn how to learn Talmud and its commentaries.
