dc.description.abstractThis course examines the history of modern Russia from the second half of the nineteenth century to the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992. Topics include the Great Reforms of the 1860s, the period of reaction and revolution in late Czarist Russia, the nationalities, and the collapse of the Russian Empire in 1917. The second part of the course covers the period between the rise of Soviet Russia and the beginnings of the Cold War after World War II.en_US
