Abstract: | This exploratory research incorporated a mixed- methods approach that focused on suicide in the Hasidic community of Borough Park, NY. The data was collected and analyzed using quantitative and qualitative measures. Results indicated statistically significant relationships between predictor variables and the perceptions of risk factors, protective factors, and resources. The qualitative research explored individual and communal perspectives on suicide, and highlighted the socio-religious factors that act as protective and risk factors in suicide. The overall research indicated a lack of resources and research on suicide in the Hasidic community of Borough Park. |
