Abstract: Yeshiva University OFFICE OF MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS Dear YU Community, Welcome to the February edition of the View from YU. As the spring semester gets underway, there is much to note. In January, President Berman, alongside students and faculty, celebrated four returning YU students who had served as IDF reservists in an uplifting ceremony on Wilf Campus. Jonah Eisenberg ’27SB, Yaakov Pahmer ’27YC, Elan Roffe ’26SB and Boaz Simantov ’26SB were honored for their courageous service. After the ceremony, over 500 attendees from the YU community gathered to hear Roi Assaraf recount his harrowing escape from the Re’im Supernova Music Festival and the spiritual odyssey that followed in its wake. This outreach to YU reservists and October 7 survivors reflected President Berman’s broader mission to express global support for IDF soldiers in Gaza, who he had visited earlier in the month. In the pages ahead, we feature stories highlighting students, faculty, staff and alumni, launching new initiatives as well as embracing beloved traditions, including: • the latest news from the Katz School of Science and Health: two new master’s degree programs in computer science -- a first of its kind for YU • the YU in Israel program, a new dynamic program in which undergrads can earn a YU degree in partnership with Tel-Aviv University and Bar-Ilan University • an alumni celebration of iconic former basketball coach Johnny Halpert, soon-to-be inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of fame • Cardozo School of Law’s renowned training intensives equipping students with the latest in courtroom litigation strategies and negotiating skills • the return of our annual student-run Seforim Sale, featuring more than 6,000 volumes and drawing hundreds of book lovers These are just a few of the stories we share in this month’s edition of the View from YU as we look ahead to a busy and rewarding semester.
